STRAIGHTENING
YOUR NATURAL HAIR

natural hair

Although a time consuming process, you will love these Step by Step instructions on straightening your natural hair. I do not recommend straightening your hair often, or keeping it straight for long periods of time due to breakage. Make sure you take a multivitamin with Vitamin E for hair, skin, and nails every day. This adds to your healthy hair regimen. Also be sure to clip your ends or have your ends clipped every 6 to 8 weeks to reverse split end damage.

You Will Need

  • Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Deep Conditioner
  • Light leave in conditioner
  • Wide tooth comb
  • Rat Tail comb
  • Heat Protectant
  • Blow Dryer (medium heat, high speed, with wide tooth comb attachment)
  • Flat Iron (with heat set from 380 degrees to 450 based on your hair type fine, medium, or coarse)
  • Edge Control Gel
  • Satin Cap/Scarf
  • Hair Clips

Let's Get Started

  • 1.Shampoo your hair thoroughly to remove any buildup or residue from previous styling and rinse. Repeat this step as many times as you like. You are looking for your hair to literally be squeaky clean.
  • 2.Slather on conditioner while detangling your hair with a wide tooth comb. Saturate hair from root to tip, remove all tangles then, rinse conditioner.
  • 3.Apply deep conditioner liberally to hair. Comb through to ends and leave on hair for 10 to 15 minutes, rinse, and towel pat dry.
  • 4.Part the hair horizontally from ear to ear. Put a nickel to quarter size amount of the light leave in conditioner to the bottom portion of hair.
  • 5.Comb through to ends and began blow drying this portion using the wide tooth comb attachment.
  • 6.Repeat the previous two steps to the top portion as well.
  • Once hair is completely dry, pull hair to the top of head, clip into place leaving a small section of hair out.
  • 7.Apply heat protectant serum to this section. Flat iron this section doing no more than two passes per section. Repeat this process until all hair has been flat iron.
  • 8.Apply edge control to your hairline and brush hair into a circular pattern around head to begin the wrapping process.
  • 9.Continue to brush hair in a circular motion until all hair is wrapped and lying flat to head. Tie hair down with the satin head scarf.
  • 10.The next morning remove the scarf and comb into style.
